HOW FULL IS YOUR BUCKET?

Directions: Read "Have You Filled a Bucket Today?" (Copy available in Mrs. Nielsen's office) or watch "How Full is Your Bucket? For Kids" Youtube clip (shown to the right).  Talk about what it means to fill someone's bucket.  Print off the Bucket Filler Notes below and have the students write notes to each other. You can also create a class bucket filler jar (see downloadable resource below).

Long handled spoons

Indoor S'mores Activity:
As it is warming up, we start to see more peer issues with students. Here is an activity to give the students a little perspective, which will help you maintain the positive culture you've created in each of your classrooms.

Directions: Download "Long Handled Spoons" story and read to it to the students.  At the end of the story, lead a discussion about how your class can be a "classroom of happiness".  You could write the ideas down on a piece of butcher paper to hang in your classroom as a reminder.  Announce to students that they will each get to have an indoor s'more, but there are 2 rules: 1) Every student gets one s'more. 2) You cannot make a s'more for yourself.  Excuse each student, a table at a time, to make a s'more for someone else.  The student can't leave the s'more on someone's desk.  They need to hand it to another student so that student has the opportunity to say thank you.  It works best if you instruct students to wait until everyone has a s'more to eat.  This makes it easier to see who still needs a s'more.

Indoor S'more Ingredients:
-Graham Crakers
-Chocolate Frosting
-Mini Mashmallows
